New concussion test?

This partial article details how researchers have come up with a new test for concussions. Do you think it would work in a high school setting? What problems might occur and how would you solve those? What do you think is done now for concussions?

  1. The test sounds like an effective way to determine if a player may have a concussion. I think the test might take to short of a time though. Just using the one short test might not be an adequate test in such a serious situation. Concussions are not something you want to take a fast test over and be done with.

  2. I think this new way to test if a fighter/player has a concussion is a good way to help them diagnose that fighter/player if they have a concussion or not. But it could also take longer in some ways as well.

  3. From reading the article, I don't believe that this would be an effective test for concussions. How could a test that was intended to evaluate a child's reading level also test whether an athlete has a concussion. The only way it would be effective would be if the coaches gave every player the test before each game and then if and when a player is hurt then the test would be given to make the decision. This process of testing isn't very practical though. Also, in my opinion it wouldn't always be accurate and this is something you don't want to misdiagnose.

  4. Concussions are very serious and something you should not take lightly. If not caught, it could lead to more than just a little diziness and headache. I dont believe this test is effective at all. It seems to quick to even judge whether the athlete has one or not. I dont think a reading test would be able to tell if an athlete has a concussion. This is not effective at all.
